Wire cutters......

Seriously there is no program that is effective at masking your IP. If you really need to surf anonymously then you need a proxy service, and possibly a series of them.

This Google has quite a listing of services, most are pay services...

You could try the Anonymizer. It thinks it's quite good, but I haven't got any experience with it.

I've used this one before with pretty good success although I haven't tried it with XP, only 98.

Speaking for 98, you will have to tweak the browser settings for it to work properly (stay hidden). You can pm me if you want to know the tweaks for 98.

You can go here to check the proxy but there's other sites that do the same thing if your willing to snoop around the net.

You can go here and snoop around the site to learn more about privacy and security but once again there's plenty of sites to keep abreast of things if your willing to scour the net.

Steve Gibson has a pretty good site here and worth reading through his info. He's also included XP and some of the vulnerabilities that exist.

good luck

Hey mjc that's pretty funny about the wirecutters...

We had a guy at work disconnect one of our network devices with a pair of wirecutters.

Long story, but it was an old device he didn't think did anything anymore...needless to say, it did, but not anymore
