Cool Lose of connection?

Hi Guys

Can anyone shed some light on my problem for me. I run win2000pro with IE6. Everything has worked fine for a long while but recently I have noticed my connection drops out for no reason? I am with virgin.net on 24/7. They tell me it must be either my browser settings or the phone line. I have had the line checked ..no probs?
What should I check in my browser? Nothing has changed recently that I am aware of.
Someone told me that there is a registry setting to allow for the "packets" being sent dowm the line???? According to them windows defaults this to 3 but it can be set as high as 12. I am not familiar with the registry can anyone advise

There seems to be no pattern to these drop outs and its not bothered whether Im using IE or outlook. Sometimes it will happen after 5 mins and then other times after 40mins

Any help appreciated

later

You might try a program such as keep alive:
check out http://download.com.com/3000-2155-25...ml?tag=lst-0-1
ISP's usually boot users off dialup to free up modem lines.
It could be other things too...such as heat in your system, windowz crashing, your line quality (needs to be physically checked)...BT cannot tell just from testing the line...if you live in a major city the lines are going to be a lot newer, than say somewhere out in the middle of Yorkshire.

But try Keepalive for a bit.

Hope this helps,

Olie
