I have just found one working proxy server that is anonymous, after searching hundreds of non-anonymous proxies. I am using Multiproxy to run it. When I go to privacy revealing sites such as http://privacy.net/analyze/ and it tells me all my details, including userhost and IP, I am wondering why my anonymous proxy isn't working to hide that?? I read the FAQ for multiproxy and someone complained about this same error and the owner said to turn off all active x, java, and cookies. I followed this very beneficial link http://www.astalavista.com/privacy/l...n/safeie.shtml and configured my settings to this guys instructions and I want to know if these settings are the correct ones to use in order for the proxy to work, so my IP and userhost cannot be displayed to users, hackers, etc.

For win98/SE and multi-proxy your browser should be configured like this...
Go to Internet Options>Security>Custom Level... Disable the following items... *All Active-X controls and Plug-ins (5 items) *All cookies (2 items) *Java Permissions (disable java...1 item) *All Scripting (3 items) *User Authentication (1 item) (activate automatic logon with current password and username) Leave everything else as is Do not click reset, click OK ***************************************** Go to Internet Options>Connections For LAN... Unclick Automatically detect settings Click Proxy Server Address 127.0.0.1 Port 8081 For dial-up do the same Click OK ****************************************** Go to Internet Options>Advanced Unclick Use HTTP 1.1 Click Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections Click OK ******************************************* Once you've changed these settings, fire up Multi-Proxy and begin entering your proxy's and test them for connection and if they are anonymous. Port 80 proxy's work the best. If everything is working you will connect to the net with the anonymous proxy and your IP will be hidden. Changing any of the settings under Internet Options will reveal your IP. ******************************************* For Win98/SE and MP, this is the only way the program will work. I haven't tried it with NT/XP/2K. You may also want to use the Trusted Sites feature within Internet Options to bypass all the Java messages your going to get. Some sites simply will not work with these settings, Microsoft and Yahoo being two of them or any site with Java Applets or that require cookies to be activated to log into to (like this site). Running MP is a game of give and take... Good luck Last edited by steveo : 12-22-2002 at 10:50 PM. |

thanks!! just two things, Multiproxy said to uncheck "Click Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" and also to set the proxy to port 8088 not 8080 like I think you said. Will it still work? also do u know a list or site with good anon proxies?

Keep in mind it's been over a year since I used the program so I'm doing this all by memory.
You have to unclick HTTP 1.1 and click Use HTTP 1.1 through PROXY CONNECTIONS or else the program won't hide the your ip. Port 8088 sounds correct. I said port 8081 which may be the wrong port. I would try 8088 first. When you fire up MP, the first screen that pops up should have this port listed on the bottom of the screen along with 127.0.0.1 When you begin inserting proxy's into the program, you basically have two choices, proxy's on port 8080 or 80. I found that port 80 proxy's were more reliable and faster. You have to keep in mind that your internet speed will be determined by the proxy your using. Some are faster than others regardless of what your actual connection speed is (in other words your a slave to the proxy speed, not your provider). The lower the miliseconds the better. Also, I would be running a firewall. Zone Alarm gets a lot of press here on this board and for good reason. They have a freebie version which works great. Try here for proxy's. |
