Not quit sure what your saying they are charging you for the modem or the Internet access?? You don't have to use there modem buy your own..
RR charges anywhere from 45.00 a month (home) and up (Buisness account)For access modem comes with the package.

Hmm don't know rick my personal RR has been 45.00 ever since I got it??
Might be the availability of not having compatition?? I do know that RR is trying to force people to upgrade service to digital which is a waste of time and money.I have it and am not impressed with it the sound quality is crap and the picture is also.. it was better the old way.. and less money..Unless you have a digital tv it will do no good and who in there right mind is going to go out and by a new one when the technology is even affordable yet??? Let alone available to personal houses? It's a forced upgrade (sound familiar yet) and a money scam..

But the Web charge is more Can’t wait to see next months bill. I can remove it faster than they can say Increase |

I think all the companies will charge whatever the lack of competition will allow. I have an old DSL service that they don't offer anymore, but I am holding onto it until they force me to leave. I have to log off every 2 hours, but I can log right back on, so it is usually not a problem. I don't have cable tv, so I don't even consider Web cable.

Hey guys,
I live in South Fla [near Miami] and use Charter, and because I use their digital cable bundle on 2 tv's I only pay $20 per month for internet. My speeds are usually 1500-1800 down and 128 up and no problem with the service. They do have lots of competion here so I think they are their toes Also got new modem [surfboard motorola 4101] for free and no monthly charges. When the line goes down for a few minutes they e-mil you later and telly yopu what happened. I have never waited mor than 4 rings for customer asst to answer a question.I will not move because this will not be replaced. Mark ![]()

I'm using Shaw Cable (a Canadian company) and they to have a tier system. The way they work it here is they supply the cable modem which remains their property. They give you the network card and software for no charge to keep. I bought into the bottom tier which is roughly 5x the speed of a 56k dialup for 21 bucks a month. The top tier is quite a bit faster (speed varies depending on where you live...be it the city or one of the bedroom communities like I live in) for just under 50 bucks a month.
I should point out that I'm always calling their 24hr tech support to reset the ip's for pc's I work on when the network card software gets wonky and they get things straightened out on their end within a minute or two. They're very easy to work with. Last edited by steveo : 01-16-2003 at 12:34 AM. |

I'm using rr right now and they gave me the modem for free and everything. I pay about 45 bucks a month and get a 4 mbps connection. That is just the average. It sometimes get up to 4.5 but sometimes it will be 3.7 mbps.
