Vertical Lines on screen

Hi all,

I have an IPC TopNote F, not a very common make, its about 4 years old.

Since last night Ihave these strange coloured vertical lines on my screen, I've powered down, left off for hours but they seem here to stay,

Anyone help!

Nah, tried those as suggested but thank you for trying.

I noticed that the lines are their in colour even while machine is carrying out POST, looks like screen is knackered, damn, damn, damn.

Any ideas ?

2 things I would do before giving up on the monitor:

1. Fiddle with the settings on the monitor and particularly try the degauss.

2. Try a different monitor and see if you get the same thing, if you do the problem is probably your video card...

It is an notebook with LCD display. Does not sound like an easy (nor affordable) repair.

It could be that the backlight is starting to go. If so that is repairable and not crazy expensive. Except for the backlight lcd screens last much longer than crt's. The only question I have is that how where lcd's made 4 years ago?
Just my opinion

it is not worth to fix a 4 yr old laptop's LCD.
Affordable solution, if you don't carry your laptop around and if you old laptop has monitor out, an external CRT or LCD is the fix.

Many Thanks for the reply gang, the family just use it as an internet machine downstairs as a bit of a space saver while my tower is upstairs.

Will put up with lines until to bad then put a crt monitor on like suggested.

Agsin, Many Thanks
