If you find one with those specs it will probably be less. Do you mean a desktop or a notebook? the reason I ask is the monitor is snmall and most systems come with at least 17 inch monitor.

After all the problem solving that you have done around here, you may be up to building your own. You could build quite an impressive system for $1000. I recently built a Athlon XP 1400+ system with WinXP for about $500 total. Since that was about 7 months ago, you can actually buy a much fast CPU for about the same money now...

In that case, $1000 will not take you far at all...

What do you want to do with the lap-top??????

I peronsally use Acer. Since they bought the lap-top technology from Texas Instruments, their laptops have been excellent and their prices are reasonable:

LX.T2205.074
TM281XV
P4-M 1.80GHZ, 256MB, 30GB, DVD, 14.1"TFT, 10/100 Fast Ethernet, 56K V.90 data/fax modem, LiIon, Windows XP HOME (UPC # 099802106669) $1149.00

LX.T2105.083
TM233LC
Celeron 2.0GHZ, 256MB,30GB,DVD-CDRW (Combo Drive), 15.0"TFT, 10/100 Fast Ethernet, 56K V.90 data/fax modem, Li-Ion, Windows XP Home (UPC # 099802114961) $1099.00
LX.T2106.097
TM230X
Celeron 1.7GHz, 128MB, 20GB, CDROM, 14.1"TFT, 10/100Fast Ethernet, 56K V.90 data/fax modem, Li-Ion, Windows XP Professional (UPC # 099802115166) $949.00

There are many other models to choose from. Mine is well built and has performed flawlessly for the last year and a half.

Check them out
