Toshiba Portege 7020 reports 2 ACPI Sys Bus Types, code 2.

Hi! This is my first time at posting a problem, so please bare with me.
I bought a reconditioned Tosheba Portege 7020 ct, Win ME, some time ago and worked fine untill I booted it oneday and the screen size was reduced to about 5" high by 6 3/4" wide. Upon bootup get msg, Display Adapter is not Configured Correctly, To correct the problem click OK and start the hardware installation wizard. After doing this get msg, Windows could not load the driver for this device because the computor is reporting two ACPI Sys bus types, Code 2. Contact your computer manufacture to get updated BIOS for your computer.

To compound things, now computor does not recognize the USB Port used to attach the floppy and or CDRW drives.

Is it salvagable? Thanks!

Welcome to

Have you done security scans on this computer. When multiple things go wrong as you describe, I begin to suspect malware. You can download security software in mjc's security thread. I'd recommend using Spybot, AVG and the trial version of Trojan Hunter to see if you have any garbage on there.

I don't believe that could be the problem. I had only installed one or two programs and never had any online connections.
The thing I last remember befor these problems started was I was booting up this computer and having had a conon notebook that had fn keys on top left side of keyboard to adjust color and contrast, I hit possibly the Esc, F1, F2, F3 keys during the boot process. Was unaware of any thing unusual untill I rebooted a day or two later.

Unless you had a contaminated disk to install something, it is true that it is unlikely that you have an infection without an internet connection.

The next thing I would think about then is if the BIOS is screwed up somehow. If you can access it, it might be worthwhile to try to reset to defaults and see if that helps.

If you can access Windoze, I would boot into Safe Mode and check in Device Manager to see if there are any duplicate drivers or other issues noted. If so, Remove the offending drivers and reboot to reinstall a single driver.

If that doesn't work, you could back up, wipe the drive and reinstall to see if that clears things up.

Hopefully others will be here with ideas soon....

Allready accesed BIOS Setup and reset to default. Computer boots to ME Operating System and can load programs. Just smaller display area and no access to USB, Parelle, and Ph modem ports.
Went to Sys Properties - view by connection. Reports ! ACPI BIOS, Properties - Win could not load driver because of two BUS types ect.
! Trident CyperBlade e4 - 128 PCI/APG No ICP (22). This display adapter is functioning correctly. Code 23. Problem is with main display adapter. Fix the main adapter and then this adapter will work.
