Talking Upgrading and downgrading

Hi again i have three quick questions. Does anyone know any good links for removing unregistered copy of xp pro or formatting the nfts on the HD?
Having trouble upgrading to 98/98se from 95 on compaqs using both upgrades and full versions.
Having troble with the same 95 to 98 problem on 2 old IBMs.
I got a truckload of old computers to fix and upgrade. I know that i have them put together right, i just can't seem to get the upgrades right. BTW the xp pro removal is so i can put one of my 98s on it before i sell it. Any good links would be very helpfull

Without details it is hard to know, but are you sure the computers you are trying to upgrade can handle Win98... How old are they?? How fast are they? And how much RAM do they have??

As for getting rid of WinXP to install Win98... Is there some reason you can't just reformat and install??

To get rid of XP pro and the ntfs partition
You need to boot up using an O/S that can see the partition . (win9x can't)

Even if you format the ntfs partition to remove XP you still won't be able to use the partition unless you have another O/S to use on it.

Also, are you planning on selling the other computers along with the one with XP on it??

If so, there might be data on the others that would best be sent to that great "data home in the skies!"

Or, save any pertinent data and then zero-out the drives and fresh install...

Or, as Pete suggested, just format and reinstall...

Format can't see an NTFS partition but Fdisk can. Run Fdisk and remove the "non DOS or NTFS partition" and create a new FAT 32 partition reboot and format it. You could use a utility such as Partition Magic to convert the NTFS partition to FAT 32 then format and install Win 98

Microsoft's instructions on how to use Fdisk and Format
