Emachines M5312
I'm thinking of buying a notebook. Has anybody used the Emachines M5312?
Any problems, etc. ? What about the Presario 2580US? |

Welcome to the PC Guide,
Please single post issues, thanks. For the E-machine: The 60 Gig HDD is nice, AMD will lower battery life vs Centrino, says graphics not all that good with large display. Compaq is P4, again battery life is an issue but it should be high perfomance. What application will you be using the purchase for? I have not used E-machines notebooks, I have used Compaq and Toshiba and Dell....more will follow. Last edited by PrntRhd : 12-24-2003 at 10:18 AM. |

eMachines will give you a lot more bang for your buck, especially the new athlon 64 based laptops. Really it all depends on what you are looking for. If you want sheer power and a low price go with the emachines, if you want slightly more portablility and are willing to spend money for a damn good notebook and quality get something like an IBM T40 or R50.

The only thing I will add, is that if portability and battery life [school] are important look at a Centrino machine, usually under 7 pounds and have wi-fi built in.
E-machines quality has gotten alot better lately and if the model suites the way your going to use it I am sure it will be fine. One more note, the best of the notebooks are Toshiba, I.B.M and Sager. They are more expensive but very good quality. I myself have a Compaq Centrino and love it. Mark ![]()
