Remanufactured Notebooks

I'm looking into getting a remanufactured notebook from Dell or Gateway.
Any advice?

Get a guarantee and maybe an extended warranty. Both outfits do a decent job but be sure you don't buy trouble. Dell makes a good laptop.

Both my 2.8Ghz Sony and my Mac G5 2Ghz are refurbished. They both look brand new. I believe legally any computer that is returned can not be sold as new even if it was returned without anything being defective. I sometimes wonder if computer companies unload excess inventory by calling some of there computers refurbished when they are not. My previous, still working Dell computer was refurbished.
