Question Problems Hooking Up New Audio Card to Surround System

Hi Everyone.

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop with onboard sound. I just purchased new surround sound speakers (Logitech Brand) for this pc. Problem is the surround sound won't work. (btw, it didn't work with the old speakers either) so, I just purchased and installed a new Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS card for this PC so the speakers would work. But, the right rear, left rear, and center speakers are still not working. I installed all of the software that came with the card and yes, all of the plugs are in the right places (I even unplugged them and moved them around to see if the speakers actually worked. They all work when plugged into the main out line.)

Question: Is there something I need to do special to remove the on-board sound drivers (if that is what is preventing the thing from working)? If so, please give detail directions.

Second, just to see if the card would work, I removed it from the 2400 and put it in my 4400 (w/o onboard sound) and it works like a charm on that pc. The surround sound is great. So, I took the old sound card from that 4400 and put it in the 2400, but still no joy. Same thing. No sound from the outer speakers. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

you need to disable the onboard sound in the 2400 before you start using the audigy card. After that its just a matter of configuring it correctly in creatives surround mixer software.

Thank-you for the response - but, please, give me detailed instructions on how to disable the on-board sound.
