Buying new computer

Hey all,

Thanks to everyone that helped me in the previous post. I have decided that I do indeed need to get a new computer. I have for the sake of simplicity decided to buy from iBuyPower or the like online store with standard computer parts.

I primary am a gamer, so that is the main purpose of the computer. I also do some image editing using photo shop and use a few small business programs.

Here is the computer that I came up with and its cost. Please let me know if there is anything that you would change in order to make it a more cost effective purchase or to boost for little cost increase, etc.
  • Standard ATX Mid-Tower Case w/350W Power Supply [no side window]
  • ** iBUYPOWER Recommended ** NZXT PF-500 500 Watt Power Supply
  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2x 2.13GHz/2MB L2 Cache/1066FSB)
  • Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink
  • Asus P5N32-E SLI nForce® 680i SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, IEEE-1394 Dual PCI-E MB
  • 2048MB [1024MB X2] DDR2-800 PC6400 Memory Module Corsair-Value or Major Brand More Options
  • NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB w/ dvi + TV out vido
  • 250 GB HARD DRIVE [Serial-ATA-II, 3Gb, 7200 RPM, 8M Cache]
  • 16x DVD-ROM + 52x32x52 CD-RW Combo Drive
  • 18X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive
  • Creative Lab Sound Blaster Audigy SE
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

Total Cost: $1,798

If at all possible, I would like to get the cost down to $1500-$1600 or so (if reasonable for my type of setup without giving up too much).

Any comments would be much appreciated.

The items that I currently have from my other computer are monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.

On second thought, is Vista worth it for a gaming rig? Or would XP actually work better?
