In recent news OpenAI’s wildly popular AI chatbot can now create videos, but can ChatGPT create JPG?
Unfortunately, ChatGPT does not have the capability to create images or JPG files. However, OpenAI does have a dedicated AI image generation tool, called DALL-E designed for exactly this.
Similar to other AI art generators such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion, this text-to-image model can create high-quality images with just a few prompts. By default, artwork generated by DALL-E is in a PNG format and is 1024 by 1024 pixels.
ChatGPT is a bit lacking here. Their direct competitor Google recently announced Bard’s image generation capabilities in a blog post. Essentially, Bard will now be able to enhance its responses by providing users with images to pair with the bot’s output text. But that’s not all. Bard can now take in image inputs using technology from Google Lens.
On the other hand, if we consider that OpenAI already has its own AI art generator we can let ChatGPT’s lack of image creation slide.
Additionally, if you upgrade to ChatGPT Plus you will also get access to OpenAI’s latest model, GPT-4. This model can take in image inputs but only respond back with natural language similar to Google Bard.

Can GPT-4 generate images?
Sadly, OpenAI’s GPT-4 model cannot generate images. This new multimodal model can take in both text and image inputs but unfortunately can only respond with text.

At the moment, it seems as though ChatGPT is very limited when it comes to image and PNG generation. Although, thanks to a number of new third-party plugins, ChatGPT’s capabilities are ever-expanding. This has led to the AI bot being able to develop and create complete videos from just a few prompts.
Considering the way this AI model has been evolving we hope that sometime in the future ChatGPT will have an image generation extension. But if not, this isn’t a big issue because we also have access to OpenAI’s free image generation tool DALL-E.
