There have been loads of gaming monitor deals popping up in the Spring Sales, making it a great to snag one for less. ASUS TUF, a range that focuses more on performance rather than the additional and arguably unnecessary bells and whistles, would be my starting point if I were sticking to a budget, and it just so happens that one of its best 34-inch monitors is currently on sale.
This ASUS TUF ultra-wide monitor is down 23% right now, bringing its price down from $349.00 to just $269.00. That’s a significant saving, that personally I think could be put to good use elsewhere in your setup, be it a new gaming mouse, keyboard, or towards a decent mid-range GPU for 1440p gaming (the RTX 4070 would be a good shout).
ASUS is known for producing some of the best gaming monitors on the market, so here’s a closer look at what stands out about this monitor, and who it would be ideal for.

What stands out to me about this monitor
So this monitor has a lot going for it, especially for the new price-point that is, I’d say, very much budget friendly. I won’t go through everything, but here are the main specs and features where I think you’re winning with this deal.
- 21:9 WQHD: This aspect ratio is great for a few reasons. One, it gives you more field of view in games, which can add more immersion and give you a competitive advantage in some senses. Two, WQHD resolutions (3440×1440) have more pixels than QHD displays. meaning you have greater pixel density. That’s good as it preserves the picture quality even when the monitor is larger. And three, you’ve got way more room for windows here, which is a life-saver if you’re doing anything that requires multi-tasking. Think streaming or editing video for a good example of how this can be best used.
- 90% DCI-P3: DCI is essentially an ‘industry standard’ for color used in various creative fields, such as film for example. The closer to 100%, the better, and it basically means that this monitor can recreate certain colors very accurately, in line with this standard. What that means is that when you’re editing video, you’ll be able to do so knowing that its color is going to be pretty accurate. It’s not the best, but it’s good at this price-point.
- Curved display: The closer the number is to zero, the more aggressive the curve. In this case, the 1500R curve is actually quite subtle, which means you still get a sense of immersion when you’re gaming, but you won’t feel like you’re in a distorted simulation when using it for everyday tasks. Personally, at this size, I think 1500R is the way to go.
- Fits in most spaces: Let’s be honest, these mammoth 49″ monitors are a bit overkill and will likely be half hanging out of window in most studies or bedrooms. This 34″ display is far more accessible and versatile, without dominating your chosen space. Keeping the size down also means you can save some cash too – so win, win.
- 180hz refresh rate: Pretty good, especially if you’re pairing this with a more cost-effective setup. Most people prefer to play in QHD so they can ramp up the settings without needing a high-end GPU/ CPU, so having a monitor that can handle up to 180 fps will be more than enough for most usages.
Who’s this deal for and who is not for?
This deal is great for those who are sticking to a budget, but need something to amp up the immersion when gaming. It’s also for people who plan on doubling up the usage of this monitor for video-editing, photography, and other creative work.
This monitor, however, isn’t going to cut it for the top-end creative professionals, or gamers who place HDR high up on their must-have lists. For those folks, I’d say lean towards the $400 – $600 mark to guarantee things like a DisplayHDR 400 rating or above. That, and you’ll likely be getting 99% DCI-P3 too.
Overall though, this a quality deal well worth considering if you’re kick-starting a cost-effective build.
