Affordable WiFi 7 router sees price plummet to below Black Friday
Table of Contents
One of the biggest blockers to upgrading a home WiFi network to WiFi 7 is still cost. Routers can cost several hundred dollars, and WiFi 6 is still good enough for lots of people. But if you absolutely need to upgrade from a WiFi 5 network, then WiFi 7 makes sense, and there are affordable options, like the Netgear Nighthawk RS180.
Netgear’s affordable WiFi 7 router is a good option if you don’t need a setup with plenty of wired connections. Plus, its current list price is $199. Even better, despite Cyber Monday and Black Friday both drawing to a close, that hasn’t stopped the product from receiving an eye-catching 22% ($43) discount on the router. So you can now get it for just $156. That’s one of the lowest prices we’ve seen for a WiFi 7 router this year.
NETGEAR Nighthawk Dual-Band WiFi 7 Router (RS180)
Why we like the Nighthawk WiFi 7 Router (RS180)
Affordability
Finding a WiFi 7 router for a lower price can be tricky. But if you don’t need several wired connections to your router, and rapid wireless is enough, then this model is ideal. It can support up to 80 devices wirelessly, which is enough for many homes, and even includes a 2.5 Gbps port if you need a console or PC wired to it.
Simple, sleek design
The RS180 has a simple design and a fairly small footprint, measuring 15.98 x 12.2 x 7.05 inches. You could place it on a bookshelf, a side table, or somewhere discreet and, as long as it reaches where you need it, mostly forget about it. Its design is fairly unremarkable in a good way, so it can sit quietly and support your Internet needs.
Good coverage and speed
Supporting up to 2,500 sq. ft of WiFi coverage, the RS180 should provide good wireless internet access in rooms when placed in a central location in your home or property. And as a WiFi 7 router, you can expect up to 5.5 Gbps across the router’s two bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz).

What to consider before you buy
As a more affordable WiFi 7 router, there are a couple of considerations to keep in mind. First, this router has a single wired port and does not feature a USB 3.0, for network-attached storage. Second, the router doesn’t support the 6GHz band, which may be important for your needs. If it is important, you may be better off checking out some of the best WiFi 7 routers and spending a bit more.
