What we like about this Alienware 16 Aurora Gaming Laptop
Excellent entry-level mobile GPU
This laptop features the RTX 5050 mobile, which is a decent graphics card for anyone looking for 1080p gaming at high settings. It features 2560 CUDA cores, 8GB of new and improved GDDR7 VRAM, a base clock speed of 2235MHz, and a boost clock speed of 2520MHz. It’s a good step up from your standard RTX 4050 laptop, especially as it boasts 2 GB more VRAM and has 50-series features, such as DLSS and MFG.
Very good screen
For the price, this laptop boasts a pretty impressive screen that’s everything you’d need for gaming, without all the bells and whistles. It’s WQXGA resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, which maps nicely to the level of performance you’d get with the laptop’s graphics card, and will be able to handle over 100fps gaming easily. In terms of brightness, it’s a respectable 300 nits, which is quite good, as when something is 250 nits, as some models around this price range can be, it is very noticeably dimmer, at least from our experience. When it comes to color, it’s okay. It has 100% sRGB, which is pretty standard, but it’s not good enough for creative professionals, who will need something above DCI-P3 95%.
Great Intel processor
This laptop features the Intel Core i7-240H processor, which has 10 cores, 16 threads, a base clock speed of 2.5GHz and a boost clock of 5.2GHz. On top of that, it also has a fairly large 24MB L3 cache. It’s a pretty well-balanced offering, which is going to be good for gaming and also some light to moderate multitasking and productivity.
