What we like about this Acer Nitro Gaming PC

Excellent value choice for 1440p gaming

The RTX 5070 is a great option to go for if you’re looking for something excellent for 1440p. It features 6144 CUDA cores, which is around 4000 less than the RTX 5080 for reference, 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM, 192 TMUs, 48 ray tracing cores, and 80 ROPS. It’s very much in the middle when it comes to Nvidia’s 50-series offerings, and while the 5070 Ti will be more capable when it comes to ray tracing and higher resolutions, the 5070 still has its place thanks to its overall lower price. In our testing, it performs well with 1440p at solid frame rates, even with ray tracing on some of the most demanding games, and that’s without using DLSS or MFG, which significantly improves fps.

Good Ryzen processor for gaming

The Ryzen 7 7700 is a great processor for 1440p gaming and is also a great value for what it brings to the table. Like many of the X3D models, it features 8 cores and 16 threads, and a high boost clock speed of 5.3Ghz. Where it differs is its smaller L3 cache, which comes in at a still respectable 32 MB. Some Intel processors may be preferable with larger core and thread counts for productivity and multitasking, but if you’re primarily using this PC for gaming, then this is a good CPU to have at your disposal.

Large SSD and loads of RAM

What’s great to see here is that this build hasn’t opted for an entry-level SSD, instead going for a larger 2TB option. This can hold around 15 AAA games and leave you about 500GB for other files, which is more than enough for most people. When it comes to RAM, you’ve got a solid 32GB of DDR5 here, which, again, is more than enough for most. If you’re playing open-world games or anything heavily modded, this will come in handy for sure, and it also means you can play some titles with heavier system requirements without needing to upgrade first.

Sleek design

These Acer Nitro gaming PCs are some of the sleekest builds we’ve come across, opting for a more minimal aesthetic over anything too flashy. That being said, there a some vibrant aRGB LEDs, which add some visual flare, and some interesting design choices when it comes to the vents and contours. It’s a 30L case, so bang in the middle when it comes to sizing, meaning it won’t look out of place on a desk, either.

How will this PC perform?

To give you a sense of what this PC is capable of for gaming, we’ll use our ASUS TUF RTX 5070 graphics card review and benchmarks. In short, it’s very capable at 1440p at ultra settings, and can handle some 4K with a fair bit of help from DLSS and MFG. We’ll only share our 1440p benchmarks, as we’d highly recommend something with more VRAM for 4K. Cyberpunk 2077, a particularly demanding game, especially with ray tracing, saw 108fps/ 1440p and 45fps with ray tracing. Doom Eternal, a great game to play at high fps and max settings, saw a whopping 316fps at 1440p and 212fps with ray tracing. Finally, Indiana Jones: The Great Circle, a game notorious for its demands on VRAM, saw 152fps at 1440p, which is pretty impressive if you ask us.

Who’s this deal for?

Coming in at $1,357.99, this is a very good price for a 1440p gaming PC, and only a few hundred dollars more expensive than budget RTX 5060 or 5060 Ti builds, which can only have 8GB of GDDR7 memory, and are therefore only decent for 1080p primarily. The CPU is also fairly good, and you’ve also got a pretty hefty amount of storage and RAM, too. On top of that, it’s from a very reputable brand, and we think the design and build quality reflect that.
