Why we like this deal
We liked this deal because it has two high-end components at a relatively low price. Here is how they performed during our in-house testing.
Core Ultra 9 285K

The Core Ultra 9 285K is the flagship processor of the Arrow Lake series and it has the hardware and performance to justify that title. We paired it with the RTX 4070 Ti and ran a bunch of games and benchmarking applications to see how it’ll perform.
In Cyberpunk 2077, it managed 216 FPS, which isn’t great considering the 14900K delivered 219 FPS. That being said, the Arrow Lake processors don’t have the best gaming output but their multi-threaded output is a separate topic. During the Cinebench R23 multi-core test, this CPU churned out 41,536 points, while its competition, the Ryzen 9 9950X managed 40,938. So, it certainly has the edge it multi-threaded performance and should be great for productivity.

ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Hero

To test how well it’ll handle the power requirements of a processor, we paired it with the Core Ultra 9 285K. This motherboard has 22(110A)+1(90A)+2(90A)+2(80A) power stages, so it was able to easily handle what the 285K needed without any issues. The average package power that we saw during testing came around to 236.7W while the motherboard itself remained at a comfortable 38°C.
Besides that, it has WiFI 7, a maximum memory capacity of 192GB DDR5, two PCIe 5.0 slots for storage devices, 2x Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C ports, 5x USB 10Gbps ports (4x Type-A + 1 x USB Type-C), 4x USB 5Gbps ports (4x Type-A), and more. So, it has everything you’ll need and then some.

Should you get this deal?
If you aren’t concerned about the gaming performance and want a PC build that purely focuses on productivity, then this deal is definitely worth considering. That being said, if you take the competition out of the picture, the 285K can still churn out high FPS in games. It can also be paired with any latest GPU like the RTX 5090 and you should get the best experience as the Z890 Hero has a PCIe 5.0 slot for the GPU.
