AMD’s Ryzen 7 7800X3D retains its lowest price ever, a week after Prime Day draws to a close
Table of Contents
The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the former world’s best gaming processor. Even though the spotlight is on the 9800X3D, the 7800X3D remains the best-selling processor on Amazon, with over 9,000 units sold. Right now, it has a 29% discount, dropping the price to its lowest ever of $319.99.
This processor is still very viable in the modern landscape and can be easily paired with any of the modern GPUs, like the RTX 5080 and the 5090, to put together a high-end gaming PC. So, we think this deal is a steal and is worth serious consideration.
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU
- The former world’s best gaming processor
- Can be paired with any GPU
- Has decent productivity
- Can’t be overclocked like the 9800X3D
- Not the best for productivity
Why we think this is an excellent CPU deal
Before the 9800X3D, there was the 7800X3D, and it has exceptional performance as we’ve tested and reviewed it in-house for our Ryzen 7 7800X3D review. For that time, we paired it with the RTX 4070 Ti Super and ran a handful of tests to see how it’ll handle varying workloads.
It showcased pretty good output in tests like Cinebench R23, as we got 1,665 and 17,581 points in the single- and multi-core test. In the Puget System Photoshop test, this processor churned out 8,446 points, and these numbers are great, but the only reason why this CPU wasn’t considered for productivity was that at the time, the Ryzen 7 7700X and other “X” processors offered much better performance.
So, you had to choose between better gaming performance and productivity. That isn’t the case with the 9800X3D, but you should still be able to have a smooth and streamlined working experience with the 7800X3D powering your system. Also, if you’re wondering which is the best GPU for the 7800X3D, we’ve got you covered.
Is this deal worth it?
There is a reason why this processor is the best-selling option on Amazon: it remains one of the top processors for gaming, and with this offer, you should get next-level value for money. You won’t have to worry about CPU bottlenecks, and the gaming performance should be as streamlined as it can be.
When it comes to workflows like video editing and streaming, it has enough hardware to handle those workflows without any performance degradation and should overall keep your system relevant, meaning you won’t feel the need to upgrade it for a good couple of years at least.
