Based on the prior success of the AMD model laptops Asus produced in 2021, they followed up with a 17-inch gaming model built on the i9 platform in 2022. Although these laptops have some older components, they offer a desktop power level in a compact laptop frame.

At the time of publishing, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 i9 Gaming Laptop is on sale for $2178, down from its regular price of $2499.99. This $321.99 deal showing up two weeks after Prime Day shows Amazon still has tech deals planned in July.
The laptop boasts impressive storage with a 1TB SDD and the i9 processor. It is customized with 32GB of ram for fast multitasking. This is a tremendous all-around powerful laptop or a solid portable gaming machine.

What we think
This laptop has the power you’d expect in a top-tier gaming desktop, but ASUS has managed to fit that power into a sleek and portable design. If 4K gaming isn’t a requirement, then the previous generation of components will deliver exactly what you need whilst cutting down on the price. We also find that the keyboard and the overall construction are excellent, and really round off a great piece of kit.
