If you’re on the hunt for a quality graphics card for 1440p and 4K gaming, without breaking the bank, then you’ll want to check this deal out. This best-selling ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB graphics card has been discounted at Newegg, and is now down from $647.99 to just $599.99. While the discount itself isn’t too massive, we still think it’s a great price for a graphics card that boasts 16GB of VRAM, especially when the MSRP for a similar RTX 5070 Ti is closer to $750. We think it’s a great, affordable alternative, and one of the best graphics cards you can get from a price-to-performance perspective.

ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 9070 XT

16GB GDDR6 PCI Express 5.0 x16 Graphics Card RX9070XT CL 16G

Key features of this ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card

RNDA 4 architecture and 16GB of VRAM

This graphics card is built on the latest RDNA 4 architecture, which is a significant step up from RDNA 3 across the board. You’ve got a new out-of-order memory system, which is designed to dramatically reduce latency and improve performance. On top of that, there’s a 3rd-gen ray tracing accelerator and 2nd-gen AI accelerator, in addition to the latest upscaling technology, FSR4, which can help boost perceived framerates and facilitate smoother gameplay, too. This card also boasts 16GB of memory, although it’s the older GDDR6 type. That being said, it’s still more than enough to handle 1440p and 4K gaming, along with more complex creative tasks, too.

Cooling features

This card has a decent cooling system, which is made up of a powerful triple fan design, a large heatsink, a metal backplate, and additional for additional cooling. Its fan can also stop at lower temperatures, which means this GPU can be silent with less demanding loads, such as everyday streaming or browsing.

Performance

The RX 9070 XT is similar in terms of performance to the RTX 5070 Ti 16GB. In our review of an overclocked RX 9070 XT, we saw it handle ray tracing well at 1440p, and it was also capable of 4K, very capable in fact, depending on how demanding the game was. For instance, in Cyberpunk 2077, it was able to 51fps at 1440p with ray tracing, and 25fps at 4K with ray tracing. Doom Eternal, however, saw a massive 249fps at 1440p with ray tracing and 154fps at 4K with ray tracing.

Things to consider

The big thing to consider here is whether you want to go for the RX 9070 XT or its main competitor, the RTX 5070 Ti 16GB. In short, Nvidia’s offering does take the edge when it comes to non-gaming related tasks, as it boasts pretty impressive 5th-gen tensor cores, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, and even newer, faster GDDR7 VRAM. For gaming, the RX 9070 XT certianly holds its own, but if you want something for content creation, AI-accelerated workflows, and more, then the RTX 5070 TI may be worth the extra spend.
