What you need to know about this monitor
- Super high refresh rate: This monitor has a 360hz refresh rate which is akin to some of the very best competitive gaming displays on the market. It’s essential if you’re looking to get super high frames per second.
- OLED display: The top-end when it comes to picture quality, found in only the most premium monitors. Characterised by its excellent contrast, vivid color, and bright whites, this is the type of screen you’ll want to make the most out of your games and movies.
- Perfect size for QHD: 27 inches is the sweet spot for 1440p and makes the most out of the resolution. It’s also a versatile size for most setups that won’t dominate your space.
- Super low response time: Faster than average response time with this monitor, meaning pixels can change color very quickly. That means very little chance of ghosting, and super smooth on-screen movement.
- Excellent cooling: With OLED monitors you need advanced cooling to prevent against burn-in or damage. You’ve got a thermal modulation system here which controls brightness automatically to reduce heat. You’ve also got a logo and taskbar detector, which reduces brightness in these spots too. These are often the worst culprits for burn-in by the way. On top of that, you’ve got a screensaver that comes on after 10 minutes.
- Amazing lighting: Samsung has its own ‘Core Lighting’ which you can either set manually or use the adaptive variation to match what’s going on in game.
- Thin design: This monitor is just 3.9mm at its thinnest point, making it a real show-stopping choice to elevate your setup.
Who’s this monitor for?
Personally, I’d say at this new price, this monitor is practically for anyone with a mid to higher tier PC build. You’ll certainly want a build capable of delivering 1440p at higher fps or higher graphics settings to make the most out of this, so you’re probably looking at an RTX 4070 equivalent and above in terms of GPUs.
The one thing I’d say is that this isn’t the brightness monitor you’ll come across, with the official page on Samsung noting its typical brightness of 250 nits. That’s not surprising as OLED monitors aren’t too bright, which is why QD-OLED started making an appearance in recent years, alongside various brightness boosters in LG TVs as well. It means that for a well-lit room, this may not be your best option, but for lower-light environments this will be excellent.
