One of Acer’s most budget-friendly 40-series gaming laptops has just crashed in price on Amazon with a whopping 30% off. This Acer Nitro 16 gaming laptop is reduced from $999.99 to just $702.71, which is one of the best prices we’ve seen for an RTX 4050 option for a while. This affordable gaming laptop packs a decent Ryzen 5 processor and a 165Hz WUXGA screen, for high frame rate, 1080p gaming. All-in-all, it’s a great deal if you’re looking to game on the go, but don’t want to spend 50-series prices, which can be well over $1000 even at entry level.
Acer Nitro 16 Gaming Laptop – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050
What we like about this Acer Nitro 16 gaming laptop
Brilliant budget graphics card
The RTX 4050 mobile is pretty much the go-to for most gaming laptops under $1,000, with RTX 5060s tending to pop up when you go over that threshold. It’s a decent, entry-level laptop GPU that features 2560 cores, 6GB of last-gen GDDR6 RAM, a 1455MHz base and 1755MHz boost clock speed, a 50W power draw, and 20 ray tracing cores. For the price, it’s pretty good for 1080p at medium to high settings, but its lower VRAM can cause some issues with newer titles or higher resolutions. Overall, tough for more ‘casual’ gaming, this is still a great GPU to have in your laptop.
Good value Ryzen CPU
This laptop features an AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS CPU, which is more of a basic processor that’s appropriate for this type of budget-oriented laptop. It has 6 cores, 12 threads, a boost clock speed of 5.0GHz, and a 16MB L3 cache. Given that this laptop is going to be best placed for gaming at 1080p at medium settings, this CPU is a decent choice. For light productivity, it’s also not going to be too shabby, but you may want to up your budget if you want something for heavier multitasking.
Excellent screen for the price
This laptop has a great screen for gaming. It’s an IPS, 165Hz, WUXGA display that’s designed for high fps and good viewing angles. It also features Nvidia G-Sync, which can sync this screen’s refresh rate to the GPU to reduce screen tearing, allowing for much more fluid gameplay, even at high framerates.

Who’s this deal for?
As you can see from the graph above, it’s only recently crashed in price to near its all-time low of around $680, making it a very good time to go for it, if you’re looking for something wallet-friendly. In terms of who this laptop is best suited to, we’d say it’s a great first-time buy, and also good if you want something that’ll be good for work, but also handle some light gaming easily in your downtime. For the price, it’s great, but if you want to leverage some of the improvements of the 50-series, you’ll be looking at around $600 more than this.
