Black Friday may be just on the horizon, but it looks like LG has already discounted some of its monitors ahead of the sales. This LG 32-inch Ultrafine monitor is down 33%, reduced from $299.99 to $199.99, and is currently at its lowest ever price on Amazon. For under $200, this monitor is quite impressive. It has 4K resolution, built-in speakers with Waves MaxxAudio, Dynamic Action Sync to reduce input lag, and decent 90% DCI-P3 color. If you’re looking for something primarily for productivity and everyday usage, which is also fairly capable for gaming, too, then this is a very affordable option to go for.

What we like about this monitor

For the price, this monitor brings a lot to the table and is designed for those who need something with clear, crisp picture quality, a large screen for both productivity and watching content. In terms of picture quality, alongside its 4K resolution, it’s also HDR10 with 90% DCI-P3 color. That’s more of an entry-level when it comes to color and contrast, but it’s enough to result in vibrant color and bring various HDR content to life.

In terms of gaming performance, it’s okay for the price, too, but we wouldn’t say it’s one of the best gaming monitors on the market. It has a 60Hz refresh rate, so you’re capped at 60fps at 4K, which is okay, but not something you’d pair with a very high-end gaming PC, for instance. It also has Dynamic Action Sync, which is a technology that minimizes input lag, which is good if you want your gaming sessions to feel more responsive.

When it comes to extra features, you’ve got built-in speakers equipped with Waves MaxxAudio to enhance audio quality. This software can make sound louder, fuller, and more detailed. It also features an ergonomic stand, which makes it easy for you to tilt your monitor to the right position.

Considerations before you buy

This monitor is all about giving you maximum bang-for-your-buck at under $200, and it does bring a lot to the table in a general sense at this price point. We’d say it’s designed more with productivity and everyday usage in mind, and is also usable for 4K gaming, but it doesn’t appear to be its primary function. 4K resolution on 32 inches looks far superior to 1440p on the same size, and for productivity, we’d say this would be a great option. But if you want something for more of an even split between work and play, we’d say you’re better off going for a smaller 4K monitor with a higher refresh rate, and preferably something with a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. You’ll miss out on some size, but gain quality, and potentially keep prices around about the same as this one.

Pricing history

As you can see, this recent price drop has brought this monitor down to its record low, beating its previous by around $30. We’d say, based on the specs, this is a very fair price to pay for this monitor, and a good deal considering it’s on the larger side and 4K. Since it’s been at full price practically since June, it may jump back up after the Black Friday sales, but we don’t think it will go any lower. If it doesn’t, it may not be by much.
