When you come to build a new PC, the budget you set has to go a long way. But you can save on parts if you buy them at the right time. PCIe Gen 5 SSDs are still pricey compared to budget SSDs, but if one is core to your new build or you want an upgrade, you should check out the Crucial T700.

We spotted a Christmas deal that saw 10% off of the T700 in December, but the new saving is even better. The current price chops 17% off, so it’s down to $120 at its lowest price for 30 days. The limited-time offer is also the lowest-ever price for the drive, according to Camecamelcamel, and on a seriously fast drive.

Crucial T700 1TB Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD with Heatsink

Up to 11,700 MB/s – DirectStorage Enabled – CT1000T700SSD5 – Gaming, Photography, Video Editing & Design

Features and benefits of the Crucial T700 1TB Gen5 SSD

  • Speed – The T700 provides up to 11,700 and 9500MB/s and random read and write, respectively. As Gen 4 drives can provide up to around 7,000MB/s read and write, the difference in performance is clear.
  • Capacity: 1TB is pretty standard for NVMe SSDs now and can often be the lone drive in a mid-level gaming setup. It’s a decent amount of space and can house a Windows installation when acting as a boot drive with extra space for games, files, or media. It won’t fit huge gaming or content collections though.
  • Heatsink: Crucial has equipped the T700 with a sizeable heatsink to remove heat from the surface of the drive while it’s working at high speeds. It’s eye-catching and may augment aesthetics inside your system, but keep in mind its thickness when installing near other components.
  • Reliability: Endurance rated for 600 TBW, meaning that if you filled the full 1TB capacity daily, you'd have around 600 days (1.6 years of use) before this rating was met. However, this is a highly unusual level of activity, especially on a boot drive.
  • Warranty: Crucial provides a 5-year warranty with the T700 1TB SSD. Check with Crucial for the details.

Why consider this Crucial T700 1TB Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD deal?

This offer provides a good chance to get a more cost-effective PCIe Gen 5 NVMe drive, and one that comes from a respected name. Should you be building a new, current-gen system or looking to upgrade and add an extra drive, this is the best-ever price on a fast SSD drive. The T700 looks the part and is well-rated by owners too.

However, if you have an older system, picking this up wouldn’t make sense if your PC only supports PCIe Gen 4.0. This drive will be backward compatible, but you won’t be able to make the most of its speed, and a more cost-effective PCIe 4 drive is a much better option.
