If you’re looking to upgrade to the AM5 platform but are looking for a more price-conscious option that still packs a powerful punch, the Ryzen 9 7900X might be the processor for you. This is the second most powerful processor in the Ryzen 7000 family, and it has its price slashed by 40% in this Amazon deal.

Originally, it would’ve set you back by $549, but with this offer, you can grab it for $329.97, saving $219.03, which you can divert toward getting DDR5 RAM, as that is also necessary for the AM5 platform. In our Ryzen 9 7900X review, it delivered excellent performance, and you can check out its reviews to see what this processor is capable of.

AMD Ryzen™ 9 7900X CPU

12-Core, 24-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor

Ryzen 9 7900X performance

To test the synthetic and gaming performance of this processor, we paired it with the RTX 4070 Ti Super, but you should be able to easily pair it with any of the modern graphics cards as well, without any issues.

Gaming performance

We ran Cyberpunk 2077 and Days Gone at 1080p low settings, as these titles are graphically demanding, but lowering the settings puts more strain on the CPU to keep up with the GPU. We got 276 and 299 FPS, respectively, with 84 and 128 1% lows. What this means is that the 7900X had absolutely no issues catering to the demands of the RTX 4070 Ti Super, resulting in excellent gaming output.

Synthetic performance

For synthetic testing, there are various applications, and each one tests different aspects of the processor, but we’ll use Cinebench as an example, as it tests the processor by rendering a complex 3D scene using a single core and multiple cores. So, in the Cinebench R23 single-core test, the 7900X managed 28,006 points while we got 2,017 points in the single-core test.

For comparison, the Ryzen 9 9900X delivered 31,502 and 2,205 points in the same test, so there is obviously a difference, but you shouldn’t feel any lack of power with the 7900X. If you’re wondering which GPU would work best with the 7900X, we’ve got you covered there as well.

Who’s this deal for

The Ryzen 9 7900X is an absolute powerhouse, and while we wouldn’t recommend getting it for its original price, as you can get the 9900X for less than that, with 40% off, the 7900X is a steal. It has excellent single-core and multi-core performance, which is great for resource-intensive and casual workloads. So, whether you’re a gamer or professional, this processor should keep your rig firing your a good couple of years.
