What we like about this AMD Ryzen 5 7600X and MSI Pro B650-S

First off, the Ryzen 5 7600X is a CPU that released back in September 2022, and it’s still a popular choice for more wallet-friendly builds. We reviewed it here at PC Guide and were impressed with its performance to price offering, and its ability to keep cool thanks to its lower TDP.

This MSI motherboard is a B650-S, so it’s build for AM5. It’s what I’d say is a lower to mid-tier AM5 motherboard that offers good connectivity, but scales back a little with some features, such as PCIe 5.0. It does work with DDR5 RAM however, and has WIFI 6E connectivity, which is great. All-in-all, it’s motherboard that more than does the job, without being overkill for a more cost-effective build.

Core CPU specs: 6 cores, 12 threads, boost clock speed of 5.4 GHz, an L3 cache of 32MB, and a TDP of 105W.
Excellent performance for the money: This CPU is great for gaming and can easily be paired with higher-end graphics cards. For the price, it’s an excellent option for keeping costs down on your new build.
Latest platform: Both CPU and motherboard are AM5, which gives you access to some of the latest tech, such as super-fast DDR5 RAM.

Who’s this deal for and is it the best time to buy?

This bundle deal is great for anyone looking to build more of a mid-tier, mid-range gaming build specifically, and save some cash to put towards other components. The motherboard itself isn’t the very top-end you can get, but in all honesty, unless you’re dying to experience a super-fast (and expensive) Gen 5 NVMe SSD, then it’s not really a big issue.

As for whether it’s the best time to buy, as you can see from the graph above the discount doesn’t appear to have registered on price tracker camelcamelcamel just yet. However, it’s highly likely that it’s currently at its lowest price ever, making it an excellent time to go for it.
