High-speed Crucial Gen5 2TB SSD finally pummets in price and hits new record-low on Amazon
Table of Contents
Black Friday deals are kicking off soon, but we’re already seeing some cracking offers roll in, especially on SSDs. This Crucial T710 SSD is going for a whopping 40% off its list price, reduced from $299.99 to $179.99, and now at its lowest price ever on Amazon. It has a 2TB capacity and is Gen5, meaning its read and write speeds are significantly faster than your standard Gen4 option. It’s a great SSD to pair with a high-end gaming PC build or productivity station, and at this price, we think it’s seriously tempting.
Crucial T710 2TB Gen5 NVMe SSD
- Super fast read/write speeds
- Large capacity
- Heatsink option available
- Affordable, but meaningful storage upgrade
- Gen5 SSDs great for power users and serious gamers, but overkill for most
- Can get way more capacity for less with Gen4
What we like about this Crucial SSD
Next-gen speeds
So this SSD is a Gen5 option, as we’ve mentioned, which is typically around twice as fast as your standard Gen4. What you’re getting here is up to 14,900Mb/s and 13,800Mb/s read and write times, which is up there with some of the very fastest SSDs you can get.
Large capacity, but not overkill
2TB is the sweet spot, at least in our view, for most PCs. Considering a large AAA game can take up around 100GB, a 1TB SSD can quickly fill up, especially if you’re also saving files like video footage, PSDs, and more to it as well. 2TB is the best size if you’re planning on having a substantial gaming library, or you’re going to be using your PC for content creation and productivity, too. On top of that, while they may not be less expensive per GB than some of the bigger options, deals like this one make them seriously good value for money.
Considerations before buying
First off, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got a motherboard that actually supports Gen5 NVMe SSDs, and even some seemingly high-end options can surprise you in that department. With support, the SSD will be capped at a certain read and write speed, so check your motherboard before purchasing and look for Gen5 M.2 slots in the specs.
The other thing you’ll want to consider is whether to get a heatsink for this SSD or not. That will depend on your usage, and potentially if you plan on overclocking your system, but there is an option available with a custom heatsink that’s also reduced. We’d also say it’s better to be safe than sorry, and at the time of writing, it’s only $10 more, too.

Is it a good time to buy?
It’s the best time to buy this SSD that we’ve seen so far, as it’s hit its lowest price ever on Amazon only recently. It may stay this way for a while, but we’re almost certain it’ll revert to over $200 when the sales are over, at least until the festive season. If you’re interested in it, we’d say now is a good time to pull the trigger.
