The HP Omen gaming laptop strikes a great balance between raw performance, value for money, and features. At its heart, you’ll find the Ryzen 9 8940HX, which is a premium laptop processor that packs a serious punch. It is perfect for extreme multitasking and heavy lifting. The 16″ display is also very impressive, as it delivers crisp and sharp visuals with a 2.5K resolution, but the 240Hz refresh rate is the real kicker. What we liked about this gaming laptop
Heavy-hitting processor with a solid GPU
Powered by 16 cores and 32 threads, the 8940HX is designed to go to war, meaning that it handles resource-intensive applications and workflows with a smile on its face. It has a 5.3GHz boost clock speed, which means that the cores can run really fast to efficiently handle different tasks in parallel, while the 64MB L3 cache provides more space on-chip for data to be stored. This can be related to game data such as textures, creative processes, or anything else. When you have data readily available close by, the processing is quicker, resulting in better performance.
The RTX 5060 handles GPU-intensive workflows such as rendering, simulation, content creation, AI, and more. This also includes gaming, and you can handle any AAA game at 1600p with this graphics card, as you’ll also have DLSS 4.5 and MFG to enhance its gaming performance if you were to hit a snag. So, this combo takes delivering and maintaining solid efficiency very seriously and will keep you at the top regardless of where you are.
Amazing display for gaming and work
This gaming laptop comes with a 16″ display, which has a 2560 x 1600 resolution (16:10 aspect ratio), a 240Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB color gamut coverage, and anti-glare functionality. These are very impressive specifications, as the fast refresh rate will ensure fluid motion and eliminate ghosting, allowing you to stay on target in fast-paced scenarios.
The aspect ratio gives more screen real estate, which is good for gaming and work, as you get a better viewing area. Other than that, the anti-glare panel will reduce visual noise such as glare and reflections, while the color gamut coverage promotes accurate color grading, photo, and video editing.
Built to push heavy tasks
When the going gets tough, this gaming laptop has the perfect solution. Unleashed mode allows it to push beyond the stock limits by allowing for up to 170W TGP, split between 55W and 115W for the CPU and GPU, respectively. This will allow you to take on challenging tasks with good turnaround times. While all this is going on, Omen Tempest cooling will ensure that the system doesn’t overheat.
