This iBuyPower Y40 gaming PC has a huge $1,000 discount at Newegg, that’s dropped its price from $2,899.99 to $1,899.99. This PC has an RTX 5070 Ti 16GB graphics card, which is great for both 1440p and 4K gaming, and one of the best gaming CPUs around, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, plus a hefty 2TB SSD to store large gaming collections with ease. For the price, we think it’s a real winner, and especially worth it if you want something to primarily play games in 1440p at ultra settings, even with ray tracing enabled.

What we like about this iBuyPower Y40 Gaming PC

Excellent graphics card for 1440p and 4K

The RTX 5070 Ti is probably one of the best graphics cards on the market right now, and it’s ideal for 1440p gaming at ultra settings, and is quite capable at 4K, too. In terms of specs, it features 8960 CUDA cores, 16GB of new and improved GDDR7 VRAM, and a large 256-bit bus. It’s not a million miles away from the RTX 5080, but we’d say the 5080 is better for 4K gaming at more demanding settings and ray tracing. Overall, though, the 5070 Ti would be one of our top picks if you want something incredible for 1440p.

Top gaming processor

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is still one of the best CPUs for gaming, and is now far more affordable than when it was released a while back. It features 8 cores, 16 threads, a boost clock speed of 5GHz, and a large 96MB L3 cache, which is uniquely designed to hold more data and, therefore, reduce frame latency dramatically. For productivity and multitasking, there are other options that have higher core and thread counts, which will be preferable, but for all-out gaming performance, you really can’t beat the X3D lineup.

Good amount of RAM and storage

What’s great to see here is 32GB of DDR5 RAM and a large 2TB SSD, which isn’t always standard with builds that are sub-two thousand dollars. The RAM is enough for you to run multiple applications without risk of slowdowns, and 2TB can easily store around fifteen large AAA games, and still leave you with 500GB for other files.

How will this PC perform?

Since we haven’t got our hands on an RTX 5070 Ti 16GB to test ourselves, we’ll defer to the Newegg benchmarks to give you an idea of how this rig performs from a gaming perspective, which are all at max settings without ray tracing enabled. Cyberpunk 2077 hits 115fps at 1440p and 60fps at 4K. Forza Horizon 5 gets 115fps at 1440p, and 110fps at 4K. And Black Myth: Wukong gets 70fps at 1440p and 40fps at 4K. As you can see, it’s going to easily hit triple digits in 1440p; however, we’d expect it to drop to double digits with ray tracing enabled. That being said, DLSS 4 and MFG can be used to push framerates higher.

Who’s this deal for?

Coming in at $1,899.99, this is actually a pretty good price for a gaming PC with an RTX 5070 Ti, Ryzen X3D processor, and 2TB SSD. It’s not uncommon to find RTX 5070 Ti options hover around $2200 and above, but from our experience, it’s mostly down to which processor it goes with. The big win here is the fact that it has a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, instead of the more expensive, newer Ryzen 7 9800X3D. This helps keep overall costs down, but doesn’t sacrifice much in terms of performance.
