What we like about the Intel Core i9-14900K

We reviewed the Intel Core i9-14900K last year and scored it 4-stars. In its own right, it’s one of the leading performers when it comes to CPUs, but the general consensus is that it’s not too different from the 13900K, and more expensive for obvious reasons.

In terms of pricing, the 13900K is currently at $398.60 on Amazon, making the 13th gen CPU more expensive than this 14th gen option. If you’re looking to upgrade from 12th gen, we’d say it’s a no-brainer to go for the 14900K at this time, especially as its now at its lowest price ever too.

Core specs: This CPU boasts 24 cores (8-P & 16-E), 32 threads, up to 6 GHz boost clock, and a TDP 125W.
Top-end for LGA 1700: The best processor you can get for this platform, and a good way to make the most out of it before upgrading.
A good upgrade from 12th Gen: If you want to stick on the same platform and have a 12th gen CPU, this would be a good option.
Cost effective option: Plenty of affordable, older-gen motherboards to choose from, unlike with the Core Ultra series.
