Table of Contents
If you’re looking for a high-end gaming monitor that delivers on picture quality and is also a winner for high fps gaming, then this is the deal for you. Right now, there’s a limited-time, early Spring deal on Amazon that’s knocked 30% off one of LG’s finest QHD, OLED gaming monitors, reducing its price from $849.99 to $596.99, which is a great price for a monitor of this calibre. You’ve got a WOELD display here, so it’s essentially an OLED with improved brightness, a very high 280Hz refresh rate, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, for superior HDR gaming performance. It also boasts an impressive 99.5% DCI-P3 color, which makes it an excellent choice for video editors and content creators, too. Super sleek, stylish, and with exceptional build quality, this LG monitor is a real winner for the price, and an excellent addition to a higher-end 1440p gaming setup.
LG Ultragear OLED Gaming Monitor (27″ 280Hz QHD)
Key features of this LG 27-inch UltraGear OLED gaming monitor
OLED panel
This monitor features a 4th-gen WOLED display, which is designed for improved brightness while preserving its excellent contrast and color. In terms of color, you’ve got a very impressive 99.5% DCI coverage, which makes it great for both gaming and professional video editing, and it’s also earned a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, which means its blacks have to be a minimum of 0.0005 cd/2, alongside a minimum overall brightness of 300 nits. Basically, you’re getting something with incredibly inky blacks, good overall brightness, that can also achieve high peak brightness in smaller areas, too.
280Hz, 0.03ms, and FreeSync Premium Pro
This refresh rate and response time are a potent combination for high fps gaming, allowing it to reach up to 280fps at QHD, making it a good pairing with mid-to-upper range gaming PCs. Importantly, this monitor also features AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which basically adds low-framerate compensation and improved HDR performance to its anti-screen-tearing and stuttering capabilities.

QHD and 27-inches
This is the ideal resolution-to-size ratio for many, as it makes 1440p look super crisp and clear, without the added expense of opting for a 4K alternative or needing a 4K-ready PC. It’s also ideal if you’re going for something more versatile. Not too big to put you at a competitive disadvantage when playing competitive first-person shooters, and not too small that it can’t double up as a main screen for everyday use, watching content, and productivity.
Things to consider
OLED monitors are great, but they’re at their best when used in rooms without too much light, as, compared to mini-LED or other traditionally backlit displays, they’re just not that bright, generally speaking. One potential pitfall to fall into is taking the peak brightness and ‘overall brightness’, and that’s something that’s easy to do, too. For instance, with this monitor, it can reach up to 1500 nits peak brightness, but this will very likely be in a very small area of the screen, not overall, as that would probably illuminate your local district if that were the case. For daytime usage, I’d say a mini-LED monitor is worth going for instead. You get way higher overall brightness, with the slight trade-off being that contrast isn’t as strong and you may get a bit of blooming in high contrast scenes.
