MSI Aegis ZS2 RTX 5070 Gaming Desktop – NVIDIA RTX 5070
What we like about this MSI Aegis ZS2 gaming PC
Excellent, value-friendly graphics card for 1440p
This graphics card sits right in the middle of Nvidia’s 50-series offerings, and it’s a great, wallet-friendly option for those primarily playing in 1440p. While it only has 12GB of VRAM, which makes it less optimal for 4K, from our testing of an ASUS Prime 5070, we saw impressive performance at 1440p, even with ray tracing enabled in demanding titles. Take Cyberpunk 2077, for instance, which we saw this card get 45fps at 1440p with ray tracing at ultra settings. This is very good for the price, and considering it wasn’t using DLSS or MFG, too. On less demanding titles, results are even more impressive. With Doom Eternal, it got 212 at 1440p with ray tracing and at ultra settings, and with AC Mirage, it was able to get 124fps at ultra settings. Overall, it’s an excellent card to go for, that doesn’t break the bank, and gives you everything you need for 1440p.
Affordable, but powerful gaming processor
The Ryzen 7 9700X is an excellent processor for gaming and is still frequently found paired with some of the best graphics cards on the market. It features a very high boost clock speed of 5.5GHz and a large 32MB L3 cache, which are both ideal for handling intensive gaming sessions and reducing latency. On top of that, it has a decent 8 cores and 16 threads, and a fairly low 65W TDP, making it one of the more efficient processors out there. Generally speaking, gaming PCs with this processor tend to be more cost-effective, as many builds like this now opt for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Ryzen 7 9800X3D instead. But the great thing about this processor is that it still holds up as one of the best for gaming today, but without the price tag of some of the more recent models.

Excellent amount of RAM and storage for the price
You’re getting 64GB of DDR5 RAM and a hefty 2TB NVMe SSD here, which is very good for the price. That amount of RAM is, arguably, a little overkill, but it will come in handy if you’re playing games with huge asset libraries, such as open-world titles, working with loads of windows and tabs, or handling huge amounts of complex data. As for the SSD, 2TB is more than enough to store both games as large files without having to upgrade it anytime soon.
Who’s this deal for?
Coming in at $2,199.00, this is one of the more expensive RTX 5070 options we’ve come across, but it is from MSI, so a big part of the premium you’re paying will be down to the brand reputation and build quality. This particular build comes with an MSI mouse and keyboard, though, which is you factor into the price is a bit of a win. If you’re going for something for 1440p, but want to keep costs down, this is a great way to go in our opinion, and it’s one of MSI’s better-looking PC builds, too.
