If you’re on the hunt for a great PC for both content creation and 1440p gaming, then this deal is certainly worth a look. MSI gaming PCs can carry a premium price tag, and with good reason, they often boast excellent build quality and components as to be expected from one of the biggest names in the industry. That makes even modest discounts worth checking out, like this MSI Aegis, which is currently $150 off its list price on Amazon, and now $2,049.00.
For an MSI gaming PC with an RTX 5070 and one of the top ‘non-X3D’ Ryzen CPUs, we’d say that a pretty decent deal if you’re looking for something high-quality from a well-known brand.
MSI Aegis ZS2 Gaming Desktop: AMD Ryzen 9-7900X, GeForce RTX 5070
What we like about this MSI Aegis ZS2 gaming PC
One of the best price-to-performance processors you can buy
The Ryzen 9 7900X is one of the best processors you can buy and a very good alternative to some of the more expensive, recent X3D models. This CPU has excellent multi-core performance and is great for gaming, too. That’s down to its large core and thread count (12+24), its very high boost clock speed (5.6GHz), and larger than most ‘X’ model’s L3 cache (64MB). This is the type of CPU we’d go for in a build if we wanted to use it for more than just gaming. For instance, professional content creators will really appreciate this as it will be able to ensure smooth performance and fast processing with tasks like video and photo editing, all the way to 3D modelling.
Excellent graphics card for 1440p gaming
The RTX 5070 is a solid card to go for if you’re looking for something great for 1440p, that doesn’t cost too much. It has less VRAM than the RTX 5070 Ti, and coming in at 12GB of GDDR7, which we’d say is enough for 1440p with ray tracing; however, the more VRAM the better if you’re going for higher resolutions. In our testing of an ASUS RTX 5070 graphics card, we saw it perform admirably at 1440p in even the most demanding titles. Take Indiana Jones: The Great Circle, for instance, which is a game known for using a lot of VRAM. The RTX 5070 was able to get 152fps at 1440p, and 89fps at 4K at ultra settings. With Cyberpunk 2077 at ultra settings, pure rasterization, it was able to get 108fps at 1440p and 48fps at 4K, and also 45fps at 1440p, and 21fps at 4K with ray tracing. This card is also good for content creators in certain fields. We’d say that if you’re editing 4K video, the 12GB of GDDR7 will be great, and you could do some basic 3D rendering work, too. For more complex tasks, we’d recommend something a bit more punchy.
Good amount of RAM and storage for hybrid users
You’ve got 32GB of DDR5 RAM here, which is going to be great for gaming, especially if you’re playing something heavily modded and open-world. It’ll also help keep workflows running smoothly if you’re running multiple applications at once. On the storage side, you’ve got 2TB, which is great to see in a more ‘affordable’ PC build. Sometimes companies can go for a 1TB option to keep costs down, but it’s not really enough if you want something for more than just gaming. 2TB can give you enough space for a large gaming library, plus ample room for 4K video footage, and other files, too.
Who’s this deal for?
Coming in at just over $2000, this PC is pretty well priced in our opinion, especially since it has one of the top non-X3D processors on the market and comes from one of the biggest names in the game, too. If you’re going for something excellent for 1440p gaming and content creation, specifically video editing, this is a great way to go, that doesn’t completely break the bank.
If you’re looking for alternatives for around the same price, you may want to explore some of the RX 9070 XT options that are currently on sale. These have 16GB of VRAM and, in some cases, give you even better bang for your buck. Check out our top deals below to see what’s out there.
