MSI RTX 5070 gaming PC drops below $1500 with hefty $450 Newegg discount
Table of Contents
Going for an RTX 5070 gaming PC is a great shout if you’re looking to stick to a budget, but also grab something very capable of 1440p, and even a bit of 4K at a push. This MSI Aegis Z2 gaming PC has had its price cut by $450 and is now only $1449.00, bringing it to a much more accessible price point.
This PC is very much designed with gaming in mind, but doesn’t go too overkill when it comes to its components. For those looking for something that’ll handle modern-day AAA titles at high settings and high fps at 1440p for under $1500, we think it’s a good option and alternative to some of the more expensive RTX 5070Ti models on the market.

What’s in the PC?
GPU
This build features the RTX 5070, which has 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM and is a decent card for 1080p and 1440p. There were some very big promises made about this card, specifically about it boasting 4090 performance, but from our testing, we didn’t see it come close. In our review of the ASUS TUF RTX 5070 card, it performed very well at 1440p and could even push 4K in some areas, but it’s DLSS and MFG that make it much more appealing from a price-to-performance perspective.
Using Cyberpunk 2077 on Ultra settings with Ray tracing as a benchmark, an ASUS OC edition achieved 72fps at 1080p, 45fps at 1440p, and 21fps at 4K. Overall, for 1440p at high settings and high frames, this is a great pick.
CPU
The CPU here is the AMD Ryzen 7 8700F. This processor isn’t going to blow you away, but it’s a decent, value-driven choice for the RTX 5070. It has 8 cores, 16 threads, a 65W TDP, 5GHz boost clock speed, and 16MB L3 cache. Overall, not the most powerful, but for gaming, it’s absolutely fine. If you’re looking for something for multitasking or CPU-intensive workloads, like video editing or 3D rendering, this CPU and GPU combo wouldn’t be the one for you. Head towards the RTX 5070Ti offerings instead, as we’ve seen some with top-tier Intel 14th Gen processors, which have much higher core and thread counts, L3 caches, and boost clock speeds.

RAM and storage
This PC has a fair whack of RAM for the price, coming in at 32GB. This RAM also has speeds of 6000MHz, which is up there with the best. On the storage front, you’ve got a 1TB NVMe SSD. It’s Gen4, so don’t expect the lightning-fast read and write speeds of Gen5 options, which can be well above 7000Mb/s, though. This size SSD is good if you have a few games on rotation, but you may want to consider a larger option if you’re gaming and using this for video-editing, as it will fill up fast with 4K footage and a few large AAA titles.
Who’s this deal for?
This gaming PC is a good shout for anyone looking to stick to a budget of under $1500, but those who want something good for 1440p gaming at high settings and framerates. It’s a much better option than some of the slightly more affordable RTX 5060 options, which are designed much more for 1080p gaming but come in closer to $1100 to $1200, in our opinion.
