Black Friday deals are in full swing, and it looks like it’s one of the best times this year to grab a 50-series card for less. Right now at Newegg, this Gigabyte RTX 5080 16GB graphics card is down $350, reduced from $1,539.99 to $1,189.99, and at its lowest price in 30 days. It’s a great option to go for if you’re looking for something that packs a visual punch, and is also excellent for 4K gaming, demanding creative tasks, and all things AI, and if you don’t mind paying a slight premium for a few extra bells and whistles, like advanced cooling and customizable lighting, we think it’s well worth checking out.

GIGABYTE Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7

PCI Express 5.0 Graphics Card

Key features of this Gigabyte Gaming RTX 5080 graphics card

Nvidia Blackwell architecture and 16GB of VRAM

One of the big ‘selling points’ of the 50-series is that it’s built on Nvidia’s new Blackwell architecture. In short, you’re getting the latest gen ray tracing, CUDA, and tensor cores, alongside new GDDR7 VRAM, and features like DLSS 4 with MFG. It’s a significant step up from the previous gen, especially when it comes to AI-acceleration and machine learning. This card in particular has 16GB of VRAM, which makes it excellent for high-resolution gaming, ray tracing, and handling complex creative workloads, like 3D rendering.

Advanced cooling system

This card is loaded with features designed to keep it running at its best under sustained and heavy loads, and keep operational noise as low as possible. With Gigabyte’s Windforce cooling system, you get its Hawk Fans, which spin in opposite directions to reduce turbulence, a large vapor chamber and copper heat pipes for heat transfer, and even server-grade thermal conductive on key components, too. On top of that, the card has a reinforced structure thanks to its robust metal backplate, and dual BIOS where you can switch between ‘performance’ and ‘silent’ modes, depending on your usage.

Lighting and design

A level up from your more standard RTX 5080 cards, this features customizable RGB lighting, or RGB Halo, to add some visual flair to your build. These three-ring LEDs have a wide variety of different lighting effects and colors, and can be synchronized with other compatible components, too. All of this can be adjusted and controlled via the Gigabyte Control Center.

Considerations and alternatives

One thing to consider before buying this card is the other components you’ll need to pair it with to get the most out of it. For example, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got a decent CPU, like a Ryzen 7 9800X3D or higher-end Intel Core Ultra processor, which can be expensive, even when on sale. On top of that, since this card is primarily for 4K gaming, you’ll want to grab a monitor that’s able to showcase what it can do at its best. For this, a QD-OLED 4K monitor with a high refresh rate would be best, and while these are often on sale, they can be significantly more expensive than a similar 1440p option.
