Table of Contents
ABS gaming PCs are some of the best value for money options you can go for, especially if you’re going for a high-end 50-series graphics card. We’ve spotted one at Newegg with a hefty $950 discount that we think is well worth checking out, especially if you’re after something for 4K gaming, streaming, and content creation. This ABS Stratos II Ruby gaming PC is now down from $3,499.99 to $2,549.99, which puts it on the mid to lower end of what you’d expect to pay for an RTX 5080 prebuild. The great part, though, is that this PC has the impressive Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which we’d say is the best pound-for-pound gaming CPU available right now.

What we like about this ABS Stratos II Ruby Gaming PC
One of the best gaming CPUs you can buy
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is an excellent processor designed with high-end gaming PCs in mind. It has 8 cores, 16 threads, a boost clock speed of 5.2Ghz, and a very large 96MB L3 cache. It’s this 3D V-cache that’s unique to the X3D lineup, and it works by stacking a large amount of L3 cache directly onto the CPU, which essentially reduces bottlenecks and the need to access slower RAM, resulting in higher frame rates. It’s also not bad when it comes to multitasking and productivity, either. You can read our full review here for a more in-depth look into its performance nd why we’ve named it one of the best gaming CPUs on the market.
Amazing card for 4K gaming
The RTX 5080 is one of the best cards you can get for 4K gaming, and comes in at around $1000 cheaper than the RTX 5090’s MSRP. It has 10,752 CUDA cores, which is around half the amount of a 5090, and also features 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM. It’s a card that’s very capable of handling high resolutions and textures, and can easily hit triple digits with most AAA games at ultra settings in 4K. With ray tracing, it tends to be lower, of course, but this is easily boosted with the help of DLSS 4 and MFG, often allowing for pretty impressive frame rates, which are also super smooth, too.
More than enough RAM and a large SSD
Once again, we’ve got the pretty standard 32GB of DDR5 RAM here, which, as we always say, is going to be good for an overall responsive feel when using this PC. On top of that, for gaming, it’s great if you’re playing a lot of open-world titles, which need a fair amount of RAM to run well. The SSD is 2TB and it’s a Gen4 option, which is fast enough to speed up booting and loading times, and large enough for fairly substantial gaming libraries, too.
How will this PC perform?
So if we take a look at Newegg’s benchmarks first, which are all at ultra settings with no ray tracing, we can see this PC excels at both 1440p and 4K. Black Myth: Wukong is playable at 80fps/ 1440p and 50fps/ 4K, which is impressive considering this is a particularly demanding title. Looking at a more competitive game, we can see that this build can get 185fps at 1440p with Black Ops 6, which is very good indeed. With our own benchmarks for the RTX 5080 FE, we found it very capable at 4K, even in demanding titles. Cyberpunk 2077 was playable at 72fps at 4K and 35fps with ray tracing on, and Doom Eternal saw 265fps at 4K and 191fps with ray tracing.
Should you go for this deal?
Coming in at $2,549.99, we think this is a great price considering what you’re getting here; however, with these builds, you are getting some components from lesser-known brands, which you may or may not be comfortable with. Of course, getting a PC from Corsair or Cooler Master gives you their own components, which we know are some of the best on the market, but you do have to pay a premium for this. These ABS PCs are a great option if you’re trying to keep costs a little lower, but still get access to high-end performance.
