We came across the NZXT C850 Gold Core power supply unit on Amazon with a very tempting 29% discount. This brought its price down to $99.99 from $139.99, which is a good amount saved. It is an ATX 3.1 PSU, meaning you shouldn’t have any issues powering the modern GPUs with it, and what makes it even better is the Platinum efficiency rating.

This is an exceptional rating, and for the price, this power supply unit is a steal. The build quality, PCIe 5.1 support, full modularity, and other aspects make it worth checking out, and we would highly recommend it if you’re putting together a high-end gaming PC, as it can easily handle the RTX 5080.

What we liked about this PSU

This power supply unit is one of the best we’ve seen on the market, and the price makes it extremely tempting. It has an 850W capacity, which means that you can power up to the RTX 5080 without running into any issues. However, if you go for a mid-range GPU such as the RTX 5070 or the RX 9070 XT, you can pair it with a processor like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D for exceptional gaming performance and productivity.

The fully modular nature of this power supply unit is great, though it is not uncommon, but this should ensure that there is less clutter, as you would only need to make the connections that are necessary. With support for PCIe 5.1, the communication between the GPU and the rest of the system should be super fast, as it should get access to the full capacity of PCIe 5.1 bandwidth. However, what really puts this power supply unit above others is the platinum efficiency rating, which means that it is 89% to 91% efficient and should keep your electricity bill low in the long run.

The 135mm fluid dynamic bearing fan should ensure that there is minimal wear and tear and sound, which also helps prolong the lifespan of the fan. Zero RPM fan mode is perfect for when the load isn’t enough to warrant the fans spinning, and that also helps minimise wear and tear, but when the system detects that the temperature is rising, the fan will automatically kick in, cooling the power supply unit, so you won’t have to worry about it overheating.
