The Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe range arrived in late 2024, as a sort of tonic for the 990 EVO models. The Plus range is DRAM-less, but it has a good balance about it, and 4TB is a good amount of storage at the right price.
That’s why we’re covering it here of course, because the list price of the Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4TB is $345, and was at that price as recently as November. It’s been lower since and now finds itself at a very reasonable £250. That’s $62.50 per 1TB, which is great value for the performance.

The EVO Plus 4TB is a well-balanced NVMe capable of impressive performance, considering it’s a power-efficient DRAM-less option. There’s a good amount of space here too, and a reassuring endurance rating for ongoing use in a variety of environments.

As a PCIe 5 drive, the 990 EVO Plus 4TB is a solid all-rounder NVMe option, ideal for mixed-use where a boost in storage space is needed. And in terms of dollar-per-gigabyte, this is one of the best options available.
True it’s probably not the best cheap SSD, given that even with a discount it’s over $200. But if you want a balance of performance, price, and space then the 990 EVO Plus 4TB is a drive worth considering – and which has solid endurance credentials too.
