Key features and highlights of the AOC Q27 gaming monitor
The AOC Q27 is a 27-inch gaming monitor built around a Mini-LED backlight system. This type of backlight uses many small LEDs, and in this case, the monitor has 336 individual dimming zones. Each zone can independently brighten or darken depending on the content. This helps the monitor create deeper blacks and stronger highlights.
The monitor runs at 2560 × 1440 (QHD) resolution. This is often considered the sweet spot for gaming because it is sharper than 1080p while still easier to run at high frame rates compared to 4K. On a 27-inch screen, this resolution produces a detailed image without making text look too small.
For fast-paced games, the AOC Q27 includes a 180Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate is available when connected through DisplayPort 1.4. A higher refresh rate makes motion look smoother, which is important for shooters, racing games, and action titles. Adaptive Sync is also included, which adjusts the monitor’s refresh rate to match your GPU’s output. This prevents screen tearing, which is when parts of different frames appear on the screen at the same time.
Color accuracy is another strong area. The monitor covers 134% of the sRGB color gamut, which means it can display more color shades than standard monitors. This also helps with content creation if you do occasional photo or video editing.

Is this monitor worth getting?
The AOC Q27 is worth considering if you want a strong mix of image quality and gaming performance. The Mini-LED backlight is one of its biggest advantages because it delivers real improvements over standard LED screens. You get higher contrast, deeper blacks, and better HDR performance. The 180Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time make it suitable for competitive gaming as well. While 1440p is harder to run at high frame rates than 1080p, most modern GPUs can handle it.
