One of LG’s finest QHD gaming monitors is now a huge 41% off its list price on Amazon, reduced from $899.99 to $529.99, which also happens to be its lowest ever price, too. This is a very high-end monitor that boasts a 240Hz refresh rate, low 0.03ms response time, and a stunning OLED screen with good brightness and excellent color. It’s a great monitor for gaming, but it’s also something that would be suited for creative professionals and content creators, too. For the price, we think it delivers a lot of value.

What we like about this LG 27-inch Ultragear OLED gaming monitor

OLED screen

The best you can get when it comes to picture quality, specifically color and contrast. These are ideal for making games look their very best and most lifelike, and they’re also great for creative work, watching content, too.

Very fast refresh rate and low response time

This monitor has an impressive, but not overkill, 240Hz refresh rate, which will allow for up to 240fps at 1440p. This is going to be good for those who enjoy competitive gaming, but also for games that play and look better at higher fps. It also boasts a lower-than-average 0.03ms response time, which, confusingly, doesn’t have anything to do with latency. Rather, it’s how quickly a pixel can change color, and the faster the better, which will result in less motion blur.

FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync compatible

Both of these are great for reducing screen tearing and keeping on-screen motion super smooth, even while frame rates go up and down. It basically means that this monitor can sync its refresh rate to your GPU’s framerate, but FreeSync Premium Pro is the top version of this technology.

Excellent color

OLEDs are well known for their color, so it’s not surprising that they have 98.5% DCI-P3 coverage. This is a color range that’s wider than your typical sRGB, and the greater percentage of ‘coverage’ this monitor can reproduce, the better, especially if you’re working in the creative field.

Ideal sizing

27 inches is the best size for 1440p, as it makes the most out of the resolution. If you go larger, 1440p tends to look worse, in our view, which is why it’s rare to see one bigger than 32 inches. Not only that, but 27 inches is also good for competitive gaming, as it’s not too big as to put you at a disadvantage.

Low reflection screen

A fair few OLEDs are glossy, which looks great, but can result in some distracting glare, especially in well-lit rooms. This has an anti-glare coating, which makes it far more suitable for daytime usage.

Who’s this deal for?

Coming in at $529.99, this is still on the slightly more expensive side when it comes to QHD, 240Hz gaming monitors, but where it’s worth it is with the top-tier adaptive sync technology, overall build quality and design, and its slightly higher nit brightness of 400, which is better than most OLED offerings, which can be much dimmer. It’s a high-end monitor that needs to be paired with a high-end 1440p build to make the most out of it, so make sure you’ve got something capable of both high fps at 1440p and something with enough VRAM to handle some level of ray tracing, to really get the most out of the OLED panel and its contrast.
