Powerful Ryzen 9 9900X discount cuts price again in Amazon deal
Table of Contents
The Ryzen 9 9900X hasn’t been available for a year yet and has already seen price cuts improving its viability for users concerned about the asking price. But even though it misses out on our best CPUs for the RTX 5090, its value continues to increase.
For anyone who doesn’t want an AMD ‘X3D’ model this processor is a strong option, albeit some believe AMD was a little overzealous on power-efficiency. This isn’t a time for gripes though, as the $500 list price has been cut again – this time by 24% at Amazon, to $380.
AMD Ryzen 9 9900X 12-Core, 24-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor
Why we like the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X
Near the top end of AMD’s current 9000 series roster, this CPU can do or support pretty much anything a modern-day high-end or enthusiast system faces.
- 12 Cores, 24 threads – The 9900X features a 12C 24T (12-core, 24-thread) architecture. So it’ll be a breeze facing multi-tasking, content-creation, and CPU-bound rendering tasks. Gamers, you may want an X3D model for best reults, but this CPU is no slouch and improves on the 7900X performance.
- 5.6 GHz Max Boost – Providing a strong max boost, there’s hardly a lack of power here, although its excellent power efficiency has perhaps reigned in its overall potential. As an ‘X’ variant, this CPU could be overclocked.
- Socket AM5 – AMD’s latest socket is the home to the 9900X, with the future-facing platform supporting DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 SSDs and GPUs.
- Power-efficient – An incredibly power-efficient CPU with a TDP of 120W. If you’re looking for a system to balance performance with power efficiency, this CPU could be for you.

Who is this AMD Ryzen 9 9900X deal for?
We last covered the 9900X around four weeks ago, where we spotted a nice discount, and if you didn’t pick it up then a further discount is a nice reward. This deal is for anyone wanting to build a powerful PC on the Socket AM5 platform.
Equally this deal is for builders who want a balance of power and energy efficiency, or anyone looking to move on from a 7000 series processor – check out our Ryzen 9 9900X review for the full low-down. It’s great for users that the 9000 series CPUs continue to see discounts, but we’re not sure where the floor would be. If the price seems right, this deal is for you!
