We’ve spotted an excellent pre-Prime Big Deal Days discount on an excellent MSI gaming laptop that we think is well worth shouting about. Right now, this MSI Vector 16 HX RTX 5080 laptop is going for over $650 off its list price on Amazon, bringing its price down from $3,199.99 to $2,547.02. As far as RTX 5080 laptops go, this is a pretty good price in our experience, especially given that this laptop has the impressive Intel Core Ultra 9-275HX, and a rapid 240Hz, QHD+ display, as well.

What we like about this MSI Vector 16 HX AI gaming laptop
Arguably the best laptop graphics card for the money
The RTX 5080 is, for many, the sweet spot when it comes to pricing and performance for 50-series laptops. It’s a great option for QHD gaming at high settings and high fps, even more so as it supports DLSS and MFG, which can be used to push frame rates higher. On top of this, it’s also excellent for running heavy-duty creative applications, and it excels at tasks like video editing and 3D rendering.
A top-tier Intel CPU
Just as the RTX 5080 is a versatile pick for both gaming and professional content creation, this Intel Core Ultra 9-275HX is very much cut from the same cloth. It features a large core and thread count of 24 and 24, which allows you to use this for very heavy multitasking. On top of that, it has a very high boost clock speed of 5.4GHz, and a large 35MB L3 cache, both of which will assist greatly with gaming performance. There’s also AI features here, which in this case is a dedicated NPU. This means that AI and machine learning workloads are offloaded from the CPU and GPU, which essentially frees them up for their main functions. In short, you’re getting enhanced AI performance without taking away from the other key components.

Stunning display
As with many of the top-tier gaming laptops, we’ve got a QHD+ display here, with a very high 240Hz refresh rate. This allows for very high fps gaming, but it’s also high-resolution enough to make games and content look their best. The product listing itself has this screen as an LED, which means that it’s going to be good, but not the absolute best when it comes to contrast. That would be an OLED screen, which can be much more expensive, from our experience. That being said, LED screens tend to be brighter, which is very important if you’re planning on using this in well-lit rooms or outside.
Who’s this deal for?
Coming in at just under $2,600, while this laptop is still quite the investment, you’re actually getting a pretty good deal considering it packs an incredible laptop GPU, CPU, and even has 32GB of DDR5 RAM and a large 2TB SSD. It’s a good option to go for at its current price, especially if you’re going to be using it for more than just gaming.
MSI does have an RTX 5070 Ti variant of this laptop, which we’d say would be another good shout, and while it doesn’t look to be on sale now, we’d think it’s quite likely to have some sort of discount in the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sales.
