Table of Contents
The Ryzen 9 7900X is a powerhouse even in the current landscape, which delivers solid gaming performance by keeping up with flagship offerings and also churning out great multi-threaded performance. Its 12-core and 24-thread design makes it perfect for high-performance systems that need a lot of punching power, but keep in mind that if you’re building a new gaming PC, you’ll need an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 RAM to go with this CPU.
Besides that, we were pretty impressed with what this processor was capable of when we reviewed it in-house, and you can check the details as well before making a decision. However, the current massive 44% price cut makes it extremely tempting, as this heavy hitter has been knocked down to $305.99 only. We also recommend checking out the best GPUs for the 7900X so that you can check out other options accordingly.
- Perfect for extreme performance
- Doesn’t bottleneck high-end GPUs
- A steal with this offer
- You’ll need to invest in DDR5 RAM which is expensive
What we like about the Ryzen 9 7900X
The AM5 platform gives you long-term stability
The biggest strength of the 7900X is that it is based on the AM5 platform, meaning that with a suitable motherboard, you can unleash its full potential and keep it going for the foreseeable future. However, when the time comes to upgrade the processor, you’ll still have the entire Ryzen 9000 lineup, which has some seriously heavy hitters like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D or its upgrade.

High-core count means it doesn’t mess around when it comes to work
Handling various tasks in parallel is easy for this CPU as it can divide the load between its 12 cores and 24 threads. This ensures that there is no bottleneck in the system, and regardless of the task at hand, the processing speed and efficiency remain a priority. Suitable processor for gaming in the current landscape
When we tested this processor, we paired it with the RTX 4070 Ti Super, and it churned out 299 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 and 276 FPS in Days Gone at 1080p low settings. So, it had no issues keeping up with this GPU, and with the current offerings, it shouldn’t cause a CPU bottleneck either. While it isn’t at the level of the 9800X3D, keeping its age in mind, it was designed for productivity, but the gaming output still doesn’t disappoint.
