What we like about this Ryzen 7 7800X3D and MSI motherboard combo

First off, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is one of the best CPUs for gaming on the market today, and a hugely popular choice even with the more recent Ryzen 7 9800X3D available. It features AMD’s revolutionary 3D cache, which allows for a massive L3 Cache which will really help get the most out of your GPU when it comes to gaming performance. We reviewed this CPU in depth and gave it 4.5 stars out of 5, and would highly recommend it.

As for the motherboard, we’ve reviewed a number of MSI options and have always found them to be impressive when it comes to performance, ease of use, and design. This B650 motherboard is AM5 compatible and supports DDR5 RAM, but it doesn’t have PCIe 5.0 slots, meaning you’ll be limited to Gen 4 here. That’s not a bad thing, as you get your pick of often heavily discounted, but impressive NVMe SSDs for instance. But for a fully future facing motherboard, you may want to go a couple tiers above.

CPU core specs: 8 cores, 16 threads, 5.0 GHz max boost, 120 TDP, and 96MB L3 Cache.
More affordable than the 7 9800X3D: With the newer version costing roughly $100 more, the 7 7800X3D is an excellent alternative that still delivers on gaming performance.
Future-facing platform: Both CPU and motherboard are designed for the AM5 socket, which is the latest platform. This particular board supports DDR5 RAM, which is the fastest available.
Buy a cooler: The Ryzen 7 7800X3D doesn’t come with a cooler, so we’d recommend grabbing one of the best coolers for the processor here.
Advanced motherboard cooling: VRM, PCB, and SSD cooling feature on this board to keep your components running at their best.

Who’s this bundle deal for?

This is a good deal for anyone looking to build out a more basic AM5 build with a powerful CPU for gaming, all while saving some cash for other components, such as the best graphics card for the processor itself. As for the motherboard, since it’s a B650, it’s not the very top of the line. That means it doesn’t have as much support as an X870 for instance when it comes to Gen 5, but it does give you an excellent platform for your components for less.

Overall, as far as the deal goes, it’s a good mid-range option that will give you a solid foundation for a powerful, and cost-effective gaming PC.
