If you were on the market looking for a gaming PC that offers great value and performance, the HP Omen 16L might be the one for you. It sports the Intel Core i7-14700F, RTX 4060, and plenty of other excellent specifications. While the RTX 4060 doesn’t make it suitable for high-resolution gaming, pushing 1080p and 1440p should be fine with this setup.
This prebuilt PC also comes with a Thunderobot KG3089R gaming keyboard, and with a 6% price cut, we think this deal is offering a lot for the price tag. You can grab it for $1,779 on Amazon, which is reasonable, and we’ll dive into why we think it is worth it so you have a better understanding.
HP OMEN 16L
- It comes with a mechanical 89 key gaming keyboard
- It has 64GB DDR5 RAM and a 4TB SSD
- The 14700F is good for multitasking
- The RTX 4060 isn’t the best budget graphics card
- The 14700F can’t be overclocked
What made the HP Omen 16L stand out for us
This gaming PC comes with a good processor that has 20 cores, 28 threads, a 5.4GHz boost clock speed, but an efficient TDP of 65W. That being said, depending on the workload, it can pull up to 219W, meaning that gaming and non-gaming tasks should be handled with great efficiency and performance with the 14700F at the core of this PC.
When it comes to the graphics card, we’ve reviewed the RTX 4060, and its output showcases that it is an entry-level card. It managed 77 and 48 FPS at 1080p and 1440p in Cyberpunk 2077. Less graphically demanding titles like Shadow of the Tomb Raider did better with 163 and 101 FPS, respectively.
4K gaming is out of the question with this card, even if you have DLSS 4 at your disposal. We’d recommend sticking to 1440p at best and ramping up the graphics. Compared to the processor, the GPU seems underpowered, but there should be no CPU or GPU bottleneck, and it should allow you to upgrade to more powerful cards without any difficulty.
What really stood out for us was the 64GB DDR5 RAM and the 4TB SSD, which should provide plenty of storage and efficiency across the board for various workflows. Whether it is data mining, 3D rendering, or video editing, the amount of system memory should ensure great multitasking.
The accompanying gaming keyboard is a great plus, as you won’t have to get a new one separately if this is your first gaming PC, and it also comes with Windows 11 Pro. This is excellent since the support for Windows 10 has officially ended.
Should you get this gaming PC?
This gaming PC has plenty of offers and should keep you up and running without any issues. However, the RTX 4060 might be a deal breaker for many, as it isn’t the best graphics card, and even the newer RTX 5060 has better performance. So, 1080p and 1440p gaming should be good with this, but not at the best settings.
The rest of the hardware is great, as you’re getting WiFi 6, plenty of RAM and storage, a gaming keyboard, and more. So, it does provide good value, but we’d recommend looking for other options with a better GPU; however, they might not offer the same specifications as this one.
