Table of Contents
Looking for a budget gaming laptop this holiday season? The Lenovo LOQ gaming laptop is available on Amazon for just $849.99 after a 15% price cut. This is an older variant of this laptop as it sports the RTX 4050 and the Ryzen 5 7235HS, and while this might be a dealbreaker for some, for the price, we think this is worth a serious look.
It has a 144Hz FHD display, WiFi 6, a 60Wh battery, and more features, which should deliver a solid gaming and working experience without burning a hole in your pocket. That being said, if you’re looking for an option that offers modern hardware for less, the Black Friday gaming laptop deals are worth keeping an eye on, as you might find good offerings when they go live.
Lenovo LOQ Gaming Laptop (RTX 4050, 7235HS)
- RTX 4050 is good for 1080p gaming
- It has a robust processor
- It is very stylish
- The price tag is very affordable
- The GPU isn’t the best
- The battery could’ve been better
Why you should consider the Lenovo LOQ gaming laptop
This gaming laptop has decent specifications for the price, and we think it is an option worth considering. It has a 15.6″ FHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. This should deliver a smooth gaming experience even in competitive titles, but the best part is that it is perfect for the capabilities of the RTX 4050, since this graphics card is only good for 1080p gaming, though you can push to higher resolution gaming with DLSS 4.
The Ryzen 5 7235HS has four cores and 8 threads to handle various workflows, and with a base TDP of 45W, it is very energy efficient. Once again, this isn’t the most powerful processor, but for everyday tasks, it should be enough to get the job done and even handle some mid-level-demanding workflows.
This display of this laptop also has an anti-glare coating, which should result in a pleasant gaming and working experience if you’re outside. It comes with 32GB DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD, but it can be upgraded to 64GB RAM and an 8TB SSD, meaning you should be able to handle some serious multitasking without the performance breaking down. However, given the capabilities of the CPU and GPU, we won’t recommend upgrading this laptop to that level.

Is this deal worth it?
For the price, we think this is a decent offer, but with this laptop, you’ll be locking yourself in for a couple of years with previous-gen tech. However, they are still capable components but not meant for very heavy workflows. So, if you’ve got some light editing, documentation, web browsing, etc, then this laptop should be a perfect fit. It should also be able to run various titles at 1080p, but you might have to leverage DLSS 4 to get a better gaming experience if you ramp up the in-game graphics.
