What stood out to us with this router
- Super compact – coming in at just 125 x 82 x 36mm, this can fit easily into even the smallest travel bags.
- Wifi 6 – gives you access to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidths
- IPv6 supported – which means you get OpenVPN & WireGuard pre-installed. It’s also compatible with over thirty VPN service providers too
- Low interference – runs on OpenWrt 21.02 with mass device connection capabilities alongside vastly reduced signal interference
- Repeater mode – you can use this to convert a public network to a private network, which means you’ll be able to use the internet with more security
- Budget friendly even at MSRP – we thought it was great value for money all things considering, with excellent build-quality
- Incredible signal strength – we were blown away with signal strength, downloads speeds, and latency
How it performed in our testing
You can see how it performed in our full review, but to summarise, we put it through its paces with signal strength, speed tests, and storage speed tests. The most notable highlights were that it performed much better than expected when it came to signal strength, only failing to connect at 90ft, and that its 5GHz topped out at 960Mbps in our test conditions. Overall, we gave it 5 stars and it earned our coveted ‘Outstanding’ badge.
Is it the best time to go for this deal?
Amazon Spring sales are heading our way, so you it may be worth holding out, however, there’s no guarantee that it’ll drop lower. According to camelcamelcamel, we can see that the all time low price looks to be around $92. That around $20 less than it is now. Based on this, and the general patterns, I think there could be a chance it’ll drop, but with no confirmation just yet of when the Spring Sales are kicking off – it may be worth pulling the trigger now, especially if you’re heading abroad.
