Speedy Predator 2TB SSD gets its best price in two months in new Amazon discount
Table of Contents
SSD prices continue to frustrate and delay upgrades for many users. But if you need an SSD right now, we’ve spotted the speedy Predator 2TB GM7000 at its best price on Amazon since July. A new discount has thankfully dragged the drive back down to $315. That’s not cheap, but it is a $35 saving against its current list price. And it’s priced below some obvious alternatives. This double-sided NVMe drive features DRAM, too, if that’s a must. Here’s why we’d pick it.

Why we’d pick the Predator M.2 SSD 2TB GM7000
Fast and solid all-around performance
This Predator SSD may not have the name of, say, Samsung, but it’s fast, and performance is proven as good in user reviews and third-party tests. The 2TB GM7000 is rated for maximum read and write speeds of 7400MB/s, and 6700MB/s respectively. That won’t rank among the best NVMe SSDs available, but it is plenty for most non-professional users. Plus, its onboard DRAM prevents it from eating into system RAM if you’re already running short.
Spacious, flexible capacity for mixed use
As a 2TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD, you have plenty of flexibility in where and how you can use this drive. As a capacious boot drive, it would be fine. Or you could also use it to store a large collection of games, media files, archives, or backup files. Alternatively, if you’re a content creator or streamer, it could be ideal for recorded game footage to pull into video editing software like DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro.

A (relatively) better-value SSD option
There’s no question this is the best-value option from the Predator GM7000 range right now, especially as the 4TB variant is an outrageously high $1,145.12 – a price for which you could almost buy four 2TB models. But, away from pricing that’s fully in orbit, the 2TB GM7000 is now cheaper than Samsung’s 990 Pro 2TB, 990 EVO Plus 2TB, and 990 2TB. Given its speed and all-around performance the deal price puts this drive in a smart spot if you want a little less speed for a little less expenditure.
What to consider before you buy
Aside from the obvious caveat that SSD prices are so inflated right now, heat and space are two considerations for the 2TB GM7000. We’re not saying that either is problematic, just that this SSD is double-sided, and its onboard DRAM means it can generate more heat than DRAM-less options. If you’re looking for the coolest system temps available, then that’s worth noting. And if you’re installing it in tighter spots (a laptop or console), it may be a little more fiddly to fit.
