ASUS ROG Swift 32” 4K Mini LED Gaming Monitor (PG32UQXR)

UHD (3840 x 2160), 160Hz, 1ms, Fast IPS, Local dimming, FreeSync Premium Pro, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1 with DSC, Quantum Dot, DisplayHDR1000

What we like about this ASUS ROG Swift gaming monitor

Mini-LED panel

This monitor features a brilliant mini-LED display, which is far superior to your standard LED. It uses much smaller LEDs and way more of them, which allows it to be much brighter, have better contrast thanks to more dimming zones, and ultimately better color, too. They’re a great option to go for if you don’t fancy throwing cash at an OLED monitor, but still want something with excellent picture quality.

HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 compatible

Pair this with either a high-end console, like a PS5, or a top-end gaming PC, and you’ll be able to game at very high fps at 4K.

High refresh rate and low response time

Features a 160Hz refresh rate, which is high but not overkill for 4K gaming. This should allow for up to 160fps at 4K, which is more than enough for most people’s PCs. On top of that, it has a 1ms response time, which means you won’t encounter much in the way of blur or ghosting, even at high framerates.

AMD FreeSync Premium Pro

This is one of the highest levels of adaptive sync technology, and it means this monitor can sync its refresh rate to your system’s GPU. This eliminates screen tearing and also makes on-screen movement very smooth. On top of that, Premium Pro is known for its ability to do this even with HDR content, making it great for playing games on ultra settings and with ray tracing, but still keeping everything super smooth.

Large 4K screen

While we’re big fans of 27-inch 4K screens, they’re seemingly on the way out, with most brands opting for 32-inch and larger instead. 32 inches is ideal for more immersive gaming sessions and really showcases the 4K resolution, plus, it gives you a lot of extra screen to work with, should you be using this for design or general productivity.

DisplayHDR 1000

This certification can only be achieved if a monitor excels in its peak brightness, contrast, and color. It’s a very good sign if HDR quality is important to you, and much higher than your standard VESA DisplayHDR 400 rating.

Amazing color

It features 96% DCI-P3 color, which is the color standard used in Digital Cinema, but is now often used to indicate how wide a color range a monitor can reproduce. 96% put it in the level required for professional creatives, and will be especially noticeable with its greens and reds.

Accurate color

You’ve got Delta E < 2 color accuracy here, which means that the color shown on screen will look practically indistinguishable from real life. This makes this monitor great for designers, video editors, and more.

Who’s this deal for?

Coming in at $699.99, this is a very high-end monitor that, to really make the most out of it, you’ll want a higher-end gaming PC capable of both 4K at 100fps+ and ray tracing. At this price, it’s actually relatively affordable given how much 4K 240Hz monitors can go for, but you’re saving on the fact that it has a slightly lower refresh rate and opts for a mini-LED screen, instead of QD-OLED, which has even better picture quality. All in all, though, it’s a fantastic monitor from one of the biggest and best names in the business.
